The S11 miner became the first equipment in the AntMiner series, which opened an unspoken race among manufacturers for the level of hash rate.
All the technological advances were used in order to apply chips with the smallest number of nanometers to the equipment. Today it is hard to imagine that the first ASIC miners were working on 20nm, the race for hashrate led Bitmain to master 7nm before mass production of such microprocessors in computer hardware.
